Everybody Hates China, but Not for This

Everybody hates China these days.

Why shouldn’t they? Between the trade war that has been heating up for weeks and President Trump’s tariffs razor-focused on China, the market’s uncertainty has been a bane for nearly every investor.

Believe me, there are other reasons to be angry with China.

For us, it’s a bit frustrating to watch the world’s largest coal consumer — accounting for 56% of global coal demand — outpace the U.S. in making some of the biggest advancements in clean energy.

But this isn’t some spectacular new discovery. Despite its healthy appetite for dirty energy, China has been doing what the U.S. has wanted for more than a decade: A true all-of-the-above energy strategy.

China’s nuclear ambitions are a frighteningly perfect example, too.

Take a good look below and you’ll see the heart of China’s nuclear future:

The Heart of China’s Nuclear Future

I know it doesn’t look like much, but what you see above is the shielded main pump of China’s ACP100 reactor. This pump is essentially the “heart” of the reactor’s coolant system.

Oh, it doesn’t ring a bell, you say? It should.

The veteran members of our investment community have been following China’s progress with its development of the ACP100 for years. You may recognize it by another name — Linglong One.

The ACP100, or Linglong One, is a Small Modular Reactor (SMR) that China has been developing for more than a decade. Development began back in 2010, with its first design completed in 2014. Linglong One then became the world’s first SMR to pass the IAEA’s safety review back in 2016

Within three years, construction began in Changjang, and the first concrete was poured in July of 2021.

Slowly but surely, China’s SMR project was starting to come together.

Now they’re close to the finish line, and the ACP100 is expected to be completed and operating in 2026.

It’s about time we catch up…

Trump Re-Ignites Our Nuclear Ambitions

Look, we’ve talked time and again about the AI arms race that is taking place before our very eyes. And for all the bearish sentiment in the market today over President Trump’s trade war, the excitement over AI demand may have lessened somewhat, but it’s far from over.

From the imposition of tariffs to the recent 90-day pause announced last week, to the re-focus of Trump’s ire directly on China, the long-term outlook remains strong for AI.

Keep in mind that the Trump administration announced just last month that hundreds of billions of dollars will pour into the U.S. from the world’s largest tech companies, whether it’s the $500 billion in private investment put into AI infrastructure by OpenAI, Oracle, and Softbank, or Apple’s $500 billion investment, or even the $100 billion TSMC said it was directing into our domestic chipmaking.

One thing is more true than ever before — we’re going to need enough power to fuel that demand.

And to meet it, President Trump is re-igniting his nuclear ambitions.

A few weeks ago, the U.S. Department of Energy announced it was re-issuing $900 million to support the deployment of next-gen SMRs.

However, you know just as well as I do that the smart money isn’t necessarily found in the companies investing tens of billions of dollars designing and developing that SMR technology inside the United States.

No, dear reader, the real opportunity for us is in those small investment gems that are fueling those future next-gen nuclear reactors.

And when it comes to finding the right fuel, there’s only one nuclear stock that’s ahead of the pack.

I recommend you take just a few minutes out of your day and check this one out for yourself.

Until next time,
